Curriculum Vitae: David Henry Feldman
David Henry Feldman is currently Professor, Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development,Tufts University, where he has served since 1974. Prior faculty appointments were at the University of Minnesota (Educational Psychology) and Yale University (Psychology), while visiting appointments have been at Harvard University, Tel Aviv University, and the University of California, San Diego. Professor Feldman holds degrees from the University of Rochester, Harvard University, and Stanford University, where he was awarded a Ph.D. in Child Development and Psychology in1969. His research interests involve developmental theory, transitions between levels of expertise in cognitive development, extremes in intellectual development, creativity, and the development of cultural knowledge domains. Professor Feldman is the recipient of many grants and awards, including a Fulbright Fellowship to Israel and the Distinguished Scholar of the Year Award of the National (USA) Association for Gifted Children. Books by Professor Feldman include Beyond Universals in Cognitive Development, Nature’s Gambit: Child Prodigies and the Development of Human Potential, and Changing the World: A Framework for the Study of Creativity (with Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Howard Gardner). He has been a frequent guest on television programs such as NOVA, TODAY, and the PBS Series “The Mind.” Married with four grown children, Professor Feldman lives in Lowell, Massachusetts.
