Versatile, dedicated, and courageous - that’s the way the unique cultural Münster mix presents itself. Theatre, music, literature or visual arts - there is plenty to discover after the conference programme.
You will encounter sculptures throughout the city, since here, artist of world renown have been gathering together decennially since 1977 in order to present their art works specifically created for Münster. The skulptur projekte münster ranks among the most important contemporary exhibitions in Germany. Many of the works on display have been coining the townscape to the present day.
Old and young, international and domestic art is in a self-confident mutual dialogue in Münster. Two eminent examples of this are the Pablo Picasso Graphic Museum and the LWL State Museum for Art and Cultural History. Furthermore, Münster’s Academy of Arts produces a young avant-garde that presents itself in the city’s numerous galleries and studio houses or in the Exhibition Hall for Contemporary Art Münster at the Creative Quai.
In addition to this, Münster’s theatrescape is very diversified - from “boulevard” through “vaudeville shows” and “experimental” to "classical stage".
But Münster has much to offer also in terms of music. Beside the municipal symphonic orchestra, there are numerous ensembles from the university and the conservatoire, as well as free associations and outstanding series of master concerts. What’s more, Münster has been making a name for itself also in the field of Jazz music by hosting the International JazzFestival.
The numerous further festivals in Münster promise great cultural pleasure as well, continuously attracting international attention.
